Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez back in training ahead of UCL final

Real Madrid winger Lucas Vazquez has returned to full training and looks sure to be available for the Champions League final against Atletico Madrid on May 28.

Vazquez, 24, started the season as a squad player at the Bernabeu, well behind the "BBC" front three of Gareth Bale, Cristiano Ronaldo and Karim Benzema, and also the higher profile James Rodriguez and Isco.

However, the former Castilla player has taken his chance to impress and featured 25 times in La Liga as Madrid have finished the season strongly, with his performances even bringing a first senior international call-up to the provisional Spain squad for the summer's European Championship.

Having featured in both Champions League semifinals against Manchester City, Vazquez picked up a knee injury in the 3-2 win at home to Valencia in early May, and missed Madrid's final La Liga weekend 2-0 victory over Deportivo La Coruna.

But a club statement has confirmed that he had returned to training with his teammates -- meaning that coach Zinedine Zidane has a clean bill of health as his team prepare to face their neighbours Atletico in Milan.

"The week of training at Real Madrid City continues," the statement said. "The Whites went through another session ahead of the Champions League final against Atletico on 28th of May in Milan. The main story was the return of Lucas Vazquez to the group. The forward took part in the majority of the session with his teammates, only missing out on the match.

"Zidane again called upon Castilla players Borja Mayoral, Marcos Llorente and Martin Odegaard. Ball work at high intensity was the focus of the session for the Whites as they carried out different exercises such as possession, control and passing, sprints and shooting as well as a match on a reduced sized pitch."
