Real Madrid midfielder Casemiro signs four-year contract extension

Real Madrid have handed Brazilian midfielder Casemiro a four-year contract extension that will keep him tied to the Bernabeu until June 2021.

Casemiro, 23, who returned to Real this summer after a successful season on loan at FC Porto, had two years left on his previous deal.

A statement from the Spanish giants read: "Real Madrid and Casemiro have agreed to extend the contract of the player, who remains linked to the club until 30th June, 2021."

The midfielder impressed at Porto, contributing in the club's run to the Champions League quarterfinals and a second-place finish in the Liga Sagres.

Casemiro moved to Real's B side, Castilla, from Sao Paulo in January 2013 and made his first-team debut three months later. He made just five starts for Real in the 2013-14 campaign and left the club last summer on an 12-month loan to Porto.

Porto actioned their option to make the deal permanent for €15 million, but Madrid then exercised their buy-back clause in return to sign him again for €7.5m.

Casemiro revealed upon signing for Madrid again in July: "I'm living another dream and it feels like I've returned home. I was gone for a year but I was always thinking about being at Real Madrid. I'm really excited about triumphing here."
