Rafa Benitez 'can't wait' to finalise Real Madrid contract

Rafa Benitez arrived in the Spanish capital on Monday afternoon ahead of signing his contract as the new head coach of La Liga giants Real Madrid.

On Sunday, Real vice-president Eduardo Fernandez de Blas dropped the clearest indication yet that Benitez will be confirmed as the club's new boss in the coming days.

Benitez oversaw his final match in charge of Napoli as they lost 4-2 against Lazio at the weekend to finish fifth in the Serie A table.

AS reported the former Liverpool manager has left his home in Naples, the Marina Di Castello hotel, and is bound for the Spanish capital.

Benitez said: "I am ready, I can't wait to be there."

The Spaniard is set to finalise his Bernabeu contract ahead of his presentation on Wednesday. He will replace Carlo Ancelotti, who was relieved of his duties at the end of the season after two years in charge.

Ancelotti, who won Real their long-craved 10th European Cup title -- "La Decima" -- in 2014, is wanted by former club AC Milan back in his native Italy.
