Carlo Ancelotti deserves to continue at Real Madrid - Michael Laudrup

Former Real Madrid player Michael Laudrup has backed Carlo Ancelotti to continue as Los Blancos' coach but acknowledged that results generally decide the future of managers at the top level.

Ancelotti's future remains uncertain after Madrid failed to win La Liga, the Champions League or Copa del Rey this season.

The former AC Milan and Chelsea coach did win the Copa del Rey and Champions League in his first season at the Bernabeu and also secured the World Club Cup trophy in December, but Florentino Perez is reported to be unhappy with the way the season has finished.

Laudrup, who has in the past been touted as a potential Madrid coach himself, told Marca: "[Ancelotti] deserves to continue after the great work he has done at Real Madrid, but in football results are very important."

The former Getafe and Swansea coach, currently in charge of Qatari side Lekhwiya, said he is currently weighing up his options for his own next career move.

"I am not going to accept an offer from a mid-table club in England or Spain," he said. "I have had that experience and, in this stage of my life as a coach, I am looking for new things.

"If a big club comes in, I would not say no to them, but I would like to try the U.S. if that opportunity does not arise."

Asked if he were interested in returning to the Premier League to take over at West Ham, the ex-Denmark star said: "There are many rumours at this time, but there is nothing concrete.

"I am working on a new deal with Lekhwiya -- they love me here. I will decide in the next fortnight."
