Real Madrid coach Carlo Ancelotti said he was "confident we can come back" after his side lost 2-1 at Juventus in Tuesday's Champions League semifinal.
Former Madrid striker Alvaro Morata put Juve ahead early, only for Cristiano Ronaldo to equalise midway through the first half with his ninth goal of this season's competition.
Juve striker Carlos Tevez was then the matchwinner as he won and converted a second-half penalty to give the Serie A side a narrow advantage ahead of next Wednesday's second leg at Madrid's Estadio Santiago Bernabeu.
The Los Blancos boss told Spanish TV just after the final whistle that his team had not played as well as they could, but had also lacked good fortune at key moments in the game.
"I believe that the game could have been better from our part," Ancelotti said. "We tried, always looking for quality, but not always with efficiency. In some moments we did very well, in others less.
"We did not have enough consistency. We had some bad luck, with James hitting the crossbar, and then counter-attack from Marcelo's shot. We are not happy, but confident we can change the result in the return."
Ancelotti said he had been happy with how his team bounced back from conceding early to equalise, but less content with how the team had not build on getting back into the game.
"We started very badly, left room between the lines, which cost us a goal," he said. "But after 15 minutes the team played well, with good control of the game. We scored through Cristiano, James' hit the crossbar, we were playing well, had control of the game."
The Italian coach defended his positioning of defender Sergio Ramos in midfield, saying that in general his team had not passed the ball so well, but had battled impressively.
"Not just Ramos, we lacked precision in passes from back," he said. "Ramos did well, although we forced the play too much, him and others. But in general the team fought and battled, Sergio too."
Ancelotti said his team could qualify from the second leg if they remained patient and passed the ball to make chances.
"The answer is clear from the game -- when we play the ball well we can make chances," he said. "When we try and force it too much, Juventus are dangerous on the break. I believe they will sit back and try and hit us on the counter. We will have to be more patient than we were today."
