'Chicharito is enjoying a very good moment,' says Carlo Ancelotti

Asked if Javier "Chicharito" Hernandez's current goalscoring run might mean he would keep his place when the previously "non-negotiable" Karim Benzema and Gareth Bale returned from injury, Real Madrid boss Carlo Ancelotti limited himself to saying he had a great squad full of players who deserved to start games.

"Chicharito is enjoying a very good moment," he said. "If Chicharito plays like that he is like Benzema, Bale, Ronaldo, James, Isco, Ramos, Pepe, Varane ... I have an non-negotiable team. But only 11 can play, so the others must be on the bench."

Ancelotti admitted his team had "suffered" during Sunday evening's thrilling 4-2 win at Celta Vigo, but said their "attitude" and "efficiency" up front had won out in the end.

Madrid were twice behind during a breathless first half as Nolito and Santi Mina scored for Celta, but goals from Toni Kroos, Hernandez and James Rodriguez had Los Blancos ahead at the break.

The second half was no less chaotic, but Celta were unable to make their pressure count, and got caught on the break as Chicharito netted a superb second on the break.

The result means Madrid return to just two points behind La Liga leaders Barcelona, with both teams having just five games left to play.

The Italian coach told his postmatch news conference at Balaidos that he was happy with the effort put in by his players at what was a difficult place to get a result.

"We played a very good game, because to win here you have to play very well," Ancelotti said. "It took a great physical and mental effort. We are happy and satisfied. The team remains alive, with a good attitude, and we showed that on the pitch. Celta played very open. It was a spectacular game. The whole team worked very well. We suffered in many moments, but up front we were very effective."

Ancelotti said Madrid now aimed to win all their remaining games, and keep the pressure on current leaders Barca.

"At this moment we are not thinking about other teams, but what we have to do ourselves," he said. "After the defeat in Barcelona, we have tried to stay in the fight for La Liga until the end. Our objective is to force Barca to win all their games. That is what the numbers say."
