Martin Odegaard makes Real Madrid Castilla debut vs. Athletic Bilbao

Martin Odegaard made his competitive debut for Real Madrid Castilla in Sunday's 2-2 draw with Athletic Bilbao's B team.

Odegaard, 16, came off the bench at the Alfredo Di Stefano stadium to make his official bow, having played in a friendly against Beijing Guoan FC the previous week.

The midfielder, who signed for Real last month having been courted by many of Europe's top clubs ever since he featured for Norway's senior international side while he was still 15, replaced Alvaro Medran midway through the second half with his team winning 2-1.

However, despite a busy performance in his deep-lying role and seeing one of several well-delivered corners almost turned in by Juan Jose Narvaez, Odegaard was unable to help his side extend their lead and the Basque visitors eventually hit back via Gorka Santamaria's second goal of the game to claim a point.

The dropping of two points saw Castilla, managed by former Real Madrid great Zinedine Zidane, overtaken at the top of the Segunda B table by Real Union.
