Real Betis coach Gus Poyet was so frustrated that his side were disallowed a goal in their 1-0 defeat at city rivals Sevilla that he showed the media video footage of the linesman's call during his postmatch news conference. An angry Poyet brought a laptop to the news conference and said: "In a game like this, the differences are small, just details. When a play is difficult to be judged, I'm always on the referee's side. "When it's this evident, I can't support him. But I can't say anything because I will be banned." Referee Estrada Fernandez ruled out Alex Alegria's equaliser in the 54th minute for offside, just three minutes after Gabriel Mercado had given Sevilla the lead during Tuesday's encounter at the Sanchez Pizjuan stadium. The linesman raised his flag but TV images showed that both Alegria and the player who provided the cross for him to strike home, Ruben Castro, were not in an offside position. It's not the first time Poyet has complained that refereeing decisions have gone against his side. Poyet had just returned from serving a two-match touchline ban as punishment for saying to referee Carlos Clos Gomez following his team's 0-0 result at home to Deportivo: "Don't come back, we always lose with you." The former Sunderland manager feels his side are being hard done by refereeing decisions. "Five games so far and I'm already fed up with all of the mistakes against us," he said. "I want the head of referees to give me an explanation because it was so evident that I want to know. "There have been two or three [mistakes] in five games. Let's be careful, this is a job and I depend on what happens on the pitch." Tuesday's loss was Betis' second of the campaign following their 6-2 hammering at Barcelona in their La Liga opener. Poyet, who was appointed in May as a replacement for Pepe Mel and signed a two-year contract, has steered the team to one win in their opening five games. Betis host Malaga on Friday.
