Emil Forsberg's agent has hit out at the German FA (DFB) after the Sweden international was banned for three matches after his sending off during RB Leipzig's 5-2 defeat to Hoffenheim.
The punishment means the midfielder's season is over, with agent Hasan Cetinkaya telling Bild it was "nothing but a scandal" and calling it "an attack" on his client.
"Emil was fouled and provoked and didn't even fully hit his opponent," he said.
"The verdict is an attack on RB and Emil. A Bayern Munich player would have never been forced to go through that."
Bild also reported that Leipzig could be willing to sell Forsberg in the summer if a club made an offer in excess of €40 million.
Forsberg, a reported Arsenal target in January, did little to end rumours that he will be leaving by posting "thanks for everything" on Twitter.
Following an outstanding first Bundesliga campaign last season, Forsberg and Leipzig have not enjoyed the same success this season and are sixth in the table with three matches remaining.
