Naby Keita faces 'six-figure' fine in fake driver's license case - report

RB Leipzig's Naby Keita walks off after being shown a red card vs. Bayern Munich
Naby Keita is in legal trouble in Germany for his attempts in trying to obtain a driver's license.

German prosecutors have accused Leipzig midfielder Naby Keita of submitting a fake driver's license, according to a report in Bild.

Keita, who will move to Liverpool after this season, could face a "six-figure" fine after trying on two occasions to use counterfeit Guinean driving licenses to obtain one in Germany.

"Both documents were identified as complete forgeries," a court official told Bild.

Keita is also being investigated for driving without a license, Bild reported.

Leipzig said they were aware of the matter, though coach Ralph Hasenhuttl said on Saturday he had yet to discuss the issue with the player.

"We know about this. After detailed discussions we're not assuming this is a forgery matter," club press officer Florian Scholz said in a statement. "Naby's lawyer is involved and is waiting for access to the records."
