Tim Sherwood in talks over Queens Park Rangers manager job

Queens Park Rangers have already had initial discussions with Tim Sherwood about their vacant manager job, sources have told ESPN FC.

Harry Redknapp resigned from the role on Tuesday morning and, although it had been thought that Les Ferdinand might pitch for the position, his elevation to director of football -- from director of football operations -- appears to have cleared the way for Sherwood.

Ferdinand worked with the former Tottenham Hotspur manager at White Hart Lane and is known to now support Sherwood's appointment. QPR chairman Tony Fernandes has also been impressed so far.

The restructuring of the backroom team also works in favour of Sherwood given it has seen the departure of Glenn Hoddle. The two had an acrimonious relationship from previous spells working together.
