Rio Ferdinand has backed under-fire Harry Redknapp and believes it would be "crazy" for the Queens Park Rangers manager to be sacked.
QPR have made a poor start to the season upon their return to the Premier League and currently sit bottom of the table, having secured just four points from seven games.
Speculation has intensified that Redknapp could be fired by the club, with former Tottenham boss Tim Sherwood one of the names to be touted as a potential replacement.
However, Ferdinand, who arrived at QPR from Manchester United in the summer, believes the Hoops need to stand by their manager.
"We are not even in double figures for the amount of games played yet," he told the Evening Standard. "To push the panic button now would be crazy in my eyes.
"Harry still comes across to me as a fighter and a man with a lot of fight left in him. He wants to get the club out of this situation we're in. It's not for the lack of trying.
"No one wants to see their manager get sacked. It was not nice to see it happen to David Moyes at Manchester United last season and I wouldn't want to see it here. It's down to us as players, as well as the coaching staff, to start turning results around."
QPR's schedule over the next month includes games against Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester City.
