PSV Eindhoven Andres Guardado injures thigh, out several weeks

Mexico international Andres Guardado has a right thigh injury and will be out several weeks, PSV Eindhoven announced on Tuesday.

"A scan has revealed that Andres Guardado has suffered a thigh muscle strain. The Mexico international will be out several weeks and will undergo a rehabilitation program. The midfielder was injured during his last training session ahead of the match against AZ," the statement reads.

The Mexico captain injured his hamstring this past January but returned for Champions League competition before the club bowed to Atletico Madrid during the round-of-16 second-leg match in a penalty shootout.

Guardado scored in Mexico's 2-0 win over Canada last week as El Tri advanced to the Hexagonal stage of CONCACAF World Cup qualifying with four wins from four on the road to Russia 2018.

PSV Eindhoven sit in second place in the Dutch Eredivisie table with 69 points, two behind leaders Ajax.
