MP & Silva co-founder Riccardo Silva wants the Americas to have a club tournament to rival the UEFA Champions League.

MP & Silva co-founder Riccardo Silva says plans are under way to launch a Champions League-like tournament involving all of North America, South America and the Caribbean.

The international media rights giant's chief has revealed a project for a 64-team competition to mirror the UEFA Champions League's format, which could fetch an estimated $500 million in television and marketing rights -- quintupling the current annual take-ins for the CONCACAF Champions League and CONMEBOL's Copa Libertadores...

Carlos Tevez apologises for leg breaking tackle on Ezequiel Ham

Carlos Tevez left Juve for Boca this summer.

Boca Juniors striker Carlos Tevez has apologised after a tackle on Argentinos Juniors midfielder Ezequiel Ham ended up breaking his opponent's leg.

Boca ran out 3-1 winners with the former Juventus striker netting a brace, but Tevez's challenge for a 50-50 ball made heavy contact with Ham's shin.

Tevez was not booked for the incident, but has apologised to Ham after it was revealed that the injury was serious.

Argentina leagues to allow visiting team fans for two matches

Argentina will allow visiting team fans into two matches this weekend, the first time since the ban was imposed in 2013.

The Argentina Football Federation on Wednesday approved a test return of visiting team supporters for two Argentine league matches this weekend, the first time the ban has been lifted since it was imposed in 2013 due to fan violence and deaths.

Argentina adds police for River Plate vs. Boca Juniors

River Plate needed police protection to exit the pitch Thursday night at La Bombonera.
Police have stepped up security for River-Boca match.

A record 9,000 police officers will be on hand to provide security during the heated rivalries scheduled in Argentine football league action this weekend, including Sunday's match between River Plate and Boca Juniors.

The Copa Libertadores round-of-16 match between bitter Argentine rivals Boca Juniors and River Plate was suspended back in May of this year after River Plate players were sprayed with pepper spray.
