Portland Timbers defender Nat Borchers will miss the rest of the season after rupturing his Achilles tendon.
Borchers will have surgery at a date to be determined after further evaluation, the MLS club said.
The 35-year-old was hurt late in the first half of Saturday's 2-1 loss to the LA Galaxy.
Borchers was fourth in MLS this season with 18 blocked shots and seventh with 76 clearances, leading the Timbers in both categories.

He thanked fans for their support in a message on Twitter.
"Unfortunately I have bad news regarding my injury," he wrote. "I ruptured my Achilles tendon in Saturday's game.
"I will be getting surgery soon to repair the tendon. I'm fortunate to have a fanstastic medical & training staff here in Portland to look after me.
"Thanks for the thoughts and prayers!"
Little-used defender Amobi Okugo, who signed with the Timbers in May, came in to replace Borchers against the Galaxy.
