Germany's Benedikt Howedes joins Lokomotiv Moscow from Schalke

MOSCOW -- Benedikt Howedes ended a long spell with his boyhood club Schalke when he joined Lokomotiv Moscow on Tuesday.

The 30-year-old defender, who spent last season on loan at Juventus, has signed a four-year contract with the Russian champion.

"We wish him all the best in the new sporting chapter of his career at Lokomotiv Moscow," said Schalke's sporting director Christian Heidel.

Howedes made his Schalke debut in a 2007 Champions League match against Rosenborg.

Juventus' Benedikt Howedes ready to resume career after injuries

Benedikt Howedes has made just one appearance for Juventus because of injuries.

Benedikt Howedes said he cannot wait to launch his Juventus career as he looks to put six injury blighted months behind him.

The German defender joined Juventus on a season-long loan from Schalke in the summer, but he has been restricted to just one Serie A appearance in November due to a string of setbacks.

Now, however, the 29-year-old is back in full team training and ready to make his contribution to the club's challenge for three trophies this season.

Juventus' Benedikt Howedes 'endlessly disappointed' by latest injury

Juventus defender Benedikt Howedes says he is "endlessly disappointed" to have been ruled out again by injury, just a week after making his first appearance in Serie A.

The 29-year-old German defender made his debut for the Bianconeri in the 3-0 win over Crotone just 10 days ago, but an injury he picked up in training ruled him out of the trip to Napoli last Friday, and he is not expected to be available again until after the winter break.

Benedikt Howedes has vowed to repay the trust shown in him by Juventus after a muscle injury in training extended his wait for a first appearance for the club.

Germany international Howedes, 30, joined Juventus from hometown club Schalke in the summer on a one-year loan deal with a view to a permanent move.
