Angel Di Maria, Thiago Silva star as PSG cruise into Coupe de France semifinals

With no Neymar, Kylian Mbappe or Edinson Cavani, Angel Di Maria stepped up with two goals for PSG in the Coupe de France.

Defending champions Paris Saint-Germain are into the Coupe de France semifinals after a 3-0 win over Dijon at Parc des Princes on Tuesday. Angel Di Maria helped himself to two goals, including a superb chipped opener, while Thomas Meunier added a third after being teed up by cult hero Eric Maxim Choupo-Moting.

Record 12-time Coupe de France winners PSG are into a 20th Coupe de France semifinal, so the win was an important one. The style was also notable, particularly with a number of...

Neymar will find form for Brazil in World Cup knockout games - Thiago Silva

Brazil captain Thiago Silva has backed Neymar to follow in the footsteps of Paris Saint-Germain teammates Kylian Mbappe, Edinson Cavani and Angel Di Maria in the World Cup round of 16.

Mbappe scored twice as France beat Argentina to advance -- a game in which Di Maria was also on target -- and Cavani also bagged two as Uruguay edged past Portugal.

Speaking ahead of Brazil's clash with Mexico on Monday, Silva stated his belief that Neymar will hit form in the business end of the competition.

"I think...

Brazil are better, more dangerous in 2018 without reliance on Neymar

SAMARA, Russia -- When Neymar found himself face-to-face with Serbia goalkeeper Vladimir Stojkovic on Wednesday night, four minutes from the end of a keenly-contested meeting in Moscow, it seemed as if Brazil's showman might at last get his party piece. He'd already missed one decent chance and this time, his luck would run similarly low: out came his opponent, spreading his limbs like a starfish to block Neymar's effort. Rather then peeling away in delight as the net bulged, the PSG star turned...

Neymar 'cursed me a lot' in Brazil's World Cup win against Costa Rica - Thiago Silva

Thiago Silva revealed that Neymar "cursed" at him a lot late in the game during Brazil's 2-0 win against Costa Rica at the World Cup on Friday.

Neymar and Philippe Coutinho both scored second-half stoppage-time goals to give the Selecao their first win of the tournament in Russia, but before that, Silva says his Paris Saint-Germain teammate had harsh words for him after he kicked the ball back to Costa Rica in the 83rd minute.

The incident happened as Costa Rica appeared to be wasting time...

Thiago Silva is back in Brazil's good graces after 2014 disaster and exile

ST. PETERSBURG, Russia -- When Brazil manager Tite announced he would be using more than one captain during Russia 2018, as a way (in his words) to share leadership responsibilities around the squad, it was an incredible exercise of the imagination to assume Thiago Silva would get a go.

That is not to say that Tite's choice to wear the armband in Friday's game against Costa Rica did not cause a certain frisson. Four years after becoming a symbol of Brazil's mental implosion at their own World...

PSG's Thiago Silva: AC Milan return at end of career would be 'amazing'

Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva has said he could imagine returning to AC Milan to end his career, saying the club will always be in his heart.

Silva left Milan in 2012 after three years in which he won the Serie A title and the Italian Supercoppa before moving to PSG with Zlatan Ibrahimovic.

"Milan belong in my heart and they always will do," he told La Gazzetta dello Sport. "I'm a huge fan and am following everything which is going on there closely."

Milan have not finished higher than...
