Mamadou Sakho's 'professionalism' not a problem for Palace - Roy Hodgson

Mamadou Sakho is facing a fitness race to be ready for Crystal Palace's match against Liverpool.

Crystal Palace boss Roy Hodgson has defended Mamadou Sakho from accusations he lacks professionalism as the Frenchman prepares to face former club Liverpool.

The 28-year-old joined Palace permanently in September for £26 million, having impressed while on loan at Selhurst Park after his relationship with Reds boss Jurgen Klopp broke down.

Mamadou Sakho 'scared' to re-injure calf - Roy Hodgson

Mamadou Sakho is too "scared'' to risk a recurrence of a calf problem despite Crystal Palace's injury crisis and the club believing him to be fit.

Sakho's absence means Roy Hodgson remains without 12 senior players for Sunday's visit of Tottenham, and at a time when his defence is already severely weakened and the threat of relegation is significant.

Crystal Palace agree fee for Liverpool defender Mamadou Sakho - source

LIVERPOOL -- Crystal Palace have agreed a fee with Liverpool for the transfer of defender Mamadou Sakho, a source has told ESPN FC.

Liverpool have given Sakho permission to discuss personal terms and undergo a medical at the South London club.

The Anfield club had been holding out for a fee of £30 million for the out-of-favour defender, but initial reports suggest the deal is worth £26m.

Liverpool rejected Palace's third offer of the summer, worth £25m, earlier this week.

But now...

Liverpool reject Crystal Palace's £25m bid for Mamadou Sakho - source

Liverpool have rejected an offer worth £25 million from Crystal Palace for Mamadou Sakho, a source has told ESPN.

The bid was structured in the form of £22m up front and a further £3m in add-ons.

Liverpool dismissed the approach, believed to be Palace's third offer of the summer, because it does not meet their asking price for the out-of-favour Sakho, which is around the £30m mark, sources say.

The Merseyside club believe their valuation of the 27-year-old is justified based...
