Colorado Rapids acquire Giles Barnes from Liga MX's Leon

Saphir Taider netted twice in two minutes to set Montreal on their way to a fourth straight victory, a 2-1 result over the Colorado Rapids.

The Colorado Rapids have acquired Jamaica international forward Giles Barnes from Liga MX side Leon, the club announced on Friday.

The duration of the deal for the 29-year-old former West Brom man will be six months, with the MLS side holding a club option for 2019.

"Giles is an experienced and creative forward who will provide depth for us at the striker position," said Rapids general manager Padraig Smith.

"We look forward to seeing what he can accomplish in the burgundy and blue."

Former Orlando City striker Giles Barnes joins Liga MX outfit Leon

GIles Barnes will be playing for Leon in Liga MX, the club announced on Tuesday.

Liga MX side Club Leon announced the signing of Jamaica international Giles Barnes with a twist on Tuesday.

Leon released a video of a graffiti artist painting the face of the new signing accompanied by reggae music, with fans and the media left to work it out that it was 29-year-old England-born forward Barnes.

The club eventually revealed it was indeed Barnes, although there were no further details on the length of contract.

Orlando City declines options on Giles Barnes, Antonio Nocerino for 2018

Orlando City made a number of squad announcements on Tuesday, most notably that the club has declined the options on both Giles Barnes and Antonio Nocerino.

Some more players that won't be on Orlando's team next year include Hadji Barry, midfielders Servando Carrasco and Dillon Powers, defenders Seb Hines and Conor Donovan and goalkeeper Josh Saunders.

Orlando City trades Brek Shea to Vancouver Whitecaps for Giles Barnes

Orlando City traded U.S. international midfielder Brek Shea to the Vancouver Whitecaps on Saturday night in exchange for forward Giles Barnes.

The deal features two non-designated players who nevertheless were earning the third-highest salaries on their previous teams.

Shea earned $595,000 in total compensation last season for Orlando, while Barnes received $756,250 at Vancouver, which acquired him from the Houston Dynamo last July.

Giles Barnes joins the Vancouver Whitecaps from Houston Dynamo

Houston have confirmed the transfer of Giles Barnes to Vancouver and they have also negotiated a sell-on fee should the midfielder be loaned or sold to a club outside the MLS.

The Dynamo have also gained first refusal on Costa Rica defender Keynor Brown as part of the deal.

London-born Barnes made 131 appearances for the Dynamo and scored 34 goals for since arriving in Houston in 2012 and he leaves the club on good terms.

Houston Dynamo forward Giles Barnes says his move to Houston has let him rediscover himself after a rash of career-threatening injuries nearly sidelined him for good.
