Ex-Liverpool midfielder Momo Sissoko 'pleasantly surprised' by Indonesia

Jason Dasey and Brad Maloney discuss the arrival of Michael Essien and Carlton Cole to Indonesian side, Persib Bandung.

At a time when many European, African and South American players see the Chinese Super League as either a lucrative pay day or an ambitious career move, former Liverpool midfielder Momo Sissoko has taken the road less travelled to Indonesia, and has been making a positive impression in Southeast Asia.

After a spell with Levante in Spain ended in 2015, Sissoko began his Asian adventure at Shanghai Shenhua. Following a six-month stint in China, Sissoko headed for FC Pune City in the Indian Super League...

Liverpool have attack to be Premier League contenders - Momo Sissoko

Former Liverpool midfielder Momo Sissoko believes the club's "world class" attacking talent can help Jurgen Klopp's team mount a Premier League title challenge this season.

Sissoko, who is now plying his trade with Mitra Kukar in Indonesia's Liga 1, played for the Anfield side between 2005 and 2008 before moving on to Juventus, Paris Saint-Germain and several other clubs.

The former Mali international is confident that his old team are ready to push for the title after finishing fourth in Klopp's...

Mohamed Sissoko replaced Eidur Gudjohnsen as Pune's marquee player this season.

Indonesian side Mitra Kukar are close to completing the signing of Mali midfielder Mohamed Sissoko, just over a month after he was released by Serie B side Ternana.

The Super Liga outfit will become the ex-Liverpool and Juventus man's third club in less than six months after he parted ways with Indian side Pune City earlier in the season and then had a brief one-game stint in Italy.

The 32-year-old returns to the Far East for a second spell, having previously played 10 matches with Shanghai Shenhua...

Pune do themselves and ISL a huge favour

There have only been two ISL matches that have produced seven goals, and they are separated by one year and one day.

If FC Goa unleashed a disproportionate amount of misery on Mumbai City FC on November 17, 2015 with a 7-0 hammering with two hat tricks in one match, this match was a more gripping and engaging 4-3 win for FC Pune City against Delhi Dynamos on November 18, a year later.

In doing so, Pune have set the benchmark for how teams could, should and perhaps must approach the last quarter...

'French' rescue marks Pune, Kerala draw

Cedric Hengbart has been a commanding figure, holding the line and cleaning up dangerous crosses.
Cedric Hengbart scored the fastest goal of ISL3 till now.

It was always a difficult one to call.

FC Pune City without their head coach Antonio Habas by the touchline for the fourth, and mercifully final, game of the ISL season. A team that had failed to take advantage of beginning their campaign with two of their first three matches being played at home -- not just losing to Mumbai City and NorthEast United but also failing to beat them at the Shree Shiv Chhatrapati Sports Complex in Balewadi for the first time in ISL history.

Kerala Blasters, a team that...

Ex-Liverpool midfielder Momo Sissoko eyes West Bromwich Albion deal

Momo Sissoko, seen in action for Mali, could return to the Premier League.

Former Liverpool midfielder Momo Sissoko has set his sights on a return to the Premier League as he seeks to earn a contract at West Bromwich Albion.

Sissoko, 31, is on trial at The Hawthorns after leaving Chinese Super League side Shangai Shenhua earlier this year, and hopes he can convince manager Tony Pulis to sign him.

He joined Liverpool from Valencia in the summer of 2005 and spent two-and-a-half years at the club, becoming a popular figure.

"I have a lot of good memories from my time at Liverpool,"...
