Schweinsteiger and Ibrahimovic reunite as Fire play host to Galaxy

Zlatan Ibrahimovic heads in what proved to be the winning goal for LA Galaxy at Chicago in his first MLS start.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic marked his first MLS start with the winning goal in LA Galaxy's win over Bastian Schweinsteiger and the Chicago Fire.

When the LA Galaxy traveled to the Chicago Fire on Saturday, it gave two highly decorated stalwarts the chance to once again square off.

Zlatan Ibrahimovic lined up in attack for the Galaxy, while Bastian Schweinsteiger was deployed in central defense by the Fire to directly counteract the Swede.

However, Schweinsteiger was unable to prevent Ibrahimovic from finding the net -- his third goal in three appearances for the Galaxy -- as the visitors mustered a narrow 1-0 victory at Toyota Park.

Clash of titans like Ibrahimovic vs. Schweinsteiger a rarity in younger MLS

Zlatan Ibrahimovic speaks exclusively to ESPN about his move to MLS, playing under Jose Mourinho and whether or not he'll play with Sweden at the World Cup.

While Nemanja Nikolic...

He returned to the first-team squad to make three substitute appearances before leaving for Chicago Fire.

Mourinho later said he had made a mistake in his handling...
