The manager will not have been disappointed after backup striker Fernando Llorente and young winger Georges-Kevin N'Koudou scored their first goals for the club in a 3-0 win, while teenage defender Juan Foyth impressed at the back.

Danny Rose struggles, Juan Foyth shows promise as Spurs go out

West Ham stormed back from a two-goal deficit with three goals in the second half to defeat Tottenham 3-2 at Wembley.

On a dismal night at Wembley, Spurs surrendered a two-goal half-time lead to go out of the Carabao Cup with a 3-2 loss to West Ham.

Tottenham had started brightly, taking the lead inside six minutes when Moussa Sissoko finished off a neat, flowing move. Dele Alli doubled the advantage before the break, and Spurs appeared to be cruising.

But West Ham fought back in the second half, scoring three times in an intense 15-minute spell as Tottenham switched off. Spurs pressed for an equaliser but failed...

Mauricio Pochettino hails Spurs trio of Michel Vorm, Dele Alli and Juan Foyth

LONDON -- Mauricio Pochettino singled out Michel Vorm, Dele Alli and Juan Foyth for praise after Tottenham progressed to the fourth round of the Carabao Cup with a 1-0 win over Barnsley at Wembley.

Alli scored the only goal on 65 minutes, his third of the season, against the stubborn Championship side, who caused Spurs problems on the counterattack in a lively game at the national stadium.

Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino backs Juan Foyth to make big impact

LONDON -- Tottenham manager Mauricio Pochettino has hailed the "massive potential" of Juan Foyth and explained why it took so long to sign the Argentina under-20 international.

Spurs identified Foyth as a target last season but they did not complete a £10 million deal for the centre-back until the day before the transfer deadline.

Estudiantes president Juan Sebastian Veron -- a former international teammate of the Spurs boss -- travelled to London in June for talks over Foyth but Spurs' interest...

Tottenham sign Estudiantes defender Juan Foyth on long-term contract

Tottenham have completed the signing of defender Juan Foyth from Estudiantes on a five-year deal until 2022.

The Argentina under-20 international will cost around £10 million and is Tottenham's third signing of the summer following deals for centre-half Davinson Sanchez from Ajax and Southampton goalkeeper Paulo Gazzaniga.

Foyth, 19, is expected to be followed into Spurs by Paris Saint-Germain full-back Serge Aurier, with the Ivory Coast international closing in on a move to the Premier League...

Juan Foyth: Mauricio Pochettino persuaded me to join Tottenham

Juan Foyth is an Argentina under-20 defender.

Juan Foyth has said he is signing for Tottenham Hotspur, telling Argentine newspaper El Dia that manager Mauricio Pochettino had convinced him to join.

Argentina under-20 defender Foyth is poised to move to Spurs from Estudiantes this week in a deal reported to be worth £8-10 million.

Spurs targeted 19-year-old Foyth in June, but their interest cooled after Estudiantes president Juan Sebastian Veron -- a former international teammate of Pochettino -- upped the asking price following interest...
