Chidozie Awaziem joins Super Eagles' injury list

Chidozie Awaziem was added to Nigeria's injury list on Saturday morning, joining Moses Simon and Wilfred Ndidi on the sidelines.

The Nantes defender had to be helped off the field by the medical staff after appearing to injure his ankle as he attempted to block Kelechi Iheanacho's goalbound effort.

Awaziem is the second player to pick up an injury during the training camp, with Moses Simon suffering a hip injury in Thursday morning's training session.

Nigeria defender Chidozie Awaziem has joined FC Nantes from FC Porto.

Awaziem, 20, joins the French club on a one-year loan deal, the club announced on their website on Wednesday.

Awaziem has made two appearances for Nigeria, the first in a 1-1 friendly against Corsica and his full debut in the Super Eagles' 2-0 African Nations Cup qualifying loss to South Africa.

Awaziem spoke about the move in an Instagram post, describing it as a "New focus. New objective."
