Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe joins Aston Villa on loan

Axel Tuanzebe has made three appearances for Manchester United this season.

Aston Villa have completed the signing of Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe on loan until the end of the season.

The versatile 20-year-old goes straight into the squad for Villa's next match against Sheffield United on Tuesday.

Tuanzebe made his first-team debut at Old Trafford in a 4-0 FA Cup victory over Wigan in January 2017. He started four Premier League matches towards the end of the 2017-18 campaign, including the defeats to Arsenal and Tottenham.

Axel Tuanzebe and Jake Clarke-Salter given England under-21 call-ups

Manchester United defender Axel Tuanzebe, Chelsea's Jake Clarke-Salter and Norwich's James Maddison have all been handed their first England under-21 call-ups.

The trio are in Aidy Boothroyd's squad for their Euro 2019 qualifier in Ukraine on Nov. 10.

They help fill the gap left by Joe Gomez, Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Tammy Abraham after they were selected for Gareth Southgate's senior squad.

Clarke-Salter and Tuanzebe have both played under Boothroyd for the U20s last term and Maddison has been with...

Jesse Lingard's brace easily carries Manchester United past Swansea

Manchester United made their way through to the final eight of the Carabao Cup largely without incident, as they claimed a 2-0 victory thanks to two goals from Jesse Lingard. His excellent finishes seemed to belong to a different game, as Swansea, with the exception of a couple of flourishes, offered little resistance. United, who made seven changes from their defeat against Huddersfield, deserve credit for a dominant performance.

Bailly the man to partner Lindelof as Mourinho weighs up United options

Manchester United endured a frustrating season, redeemed only by their qualification for the Champions League. One of the prouder aspects of their campaign was their defensive record in the Premier League, which was second only to Tottenham.

Jose Mourinho's men conceded 29 times in 38 matches, compared to Tottenham's 26. Yet all was not well at the heart of that defence, whose conservatism in passing the ball forward often meant that United's attack was not nearly as effective as it should have...

Man United abject in uneventful, goalless draw with Southampton

Manchester United have produced several goalless draws over the last three seasons, but none have involved a more abject performance from them than this. Having seemingly accepted that they will not seal qualification for the UEFA Champions League via their league results, they largely plodded through a match against a Southampton side who by the final whistle had scored in only one of their past five games. There was precious little to get excited about from either side, with the exception of a...

Disinterested Man United dominated in final game at White Hart Lane

Tottenham Hotspur signed off at White Hart Lane with a 2-1 win over Manchester United, a margin of victory that did not do justice to their dominance for long periods. At one point at the end of the first half, they had completed twice as many passes as United and had a handful of excellent attempts on goal, with the visitors -- cowed in part by Jose Mourinho's tactics -- unable to get near them. It was worrying to see United yield so readily, and even though they had several players rested, they...
