Real Madrid's young signings: hit and miss beyond Marco Asensio

Last Sunday marked exactly four years since Real Madrid last presented a big galactico signing -- the arrival of James Rodriguez for €80 million after the 2014 World Cup -- with the La Liga giants' transfer policy having since changed dramatically.

After long-term targets Neymar and Kylian Mbappe recently committed their futures to Paris Saint-Germain, friendly local media reports have been talking again about Madrid's intelligent focus on snapping up the best international young talent given...

Real's "B squad" players like Theo Hernandez might not make the cut

Hernandez was supposed to be the next great full-back but has struggled mightily in Madrid.

"Batacazo!" screamed the pro-Madrid media on Thursday morning after Real Madrid's B team failed to carve out a result against Sevilla in the Sanchez Pizjuan, losing 3-2. That can be translated in several ways, but "wallop!" is perhaps the most appropriate after another damning piece of evidence that the Bernabeu's transfer policy last summer was fatally flawed.

Madrid pocketed €87.5 million in transfer business but that is a drop in the ocean considering it arguably cost the reigning champions...

Youngsters Theo Hernandez, Jesus Vallejo struggle in disinterested Real Madrid defeat

It was another day at the office for Real Madrid against Sevilla in La Liga on Wednesday night as their Jekyll and Hyde season continues. They suffered for large spells of the match and looked in danger of conceding every time the hosts attacked. Despite a late fightback, it was too little, too late as they remain three points behind rivals, Atletico Madrid for second place.

The end is near, in two senses. This wretched La Liga campaign is almost over and that means a couple of squad...

Real Madrid's Marcelo, Jesus Vallejo return to training ahead of PSG clash

Real Madrid have received a timely boost ahead of next week's Champions League round-of-16 return leg at Paris Saint-Germain with defenders Marcelo and Jesus Vallejo returning to full training on Thursday.

Marcelo, the left-back, had been sidelined since injuring his right hamstring on Feb. 19, and Vallejo, the central defender, had been out of action with a similar injury for six weeks.

Both players took part in training in preparation for Saturday's home game against Leganes.

All eyes may be on Saturday's Clasico at the Bernabeu, but we've looked ahead to see who could be the stars of the future for Real Madrid and Barcelona.

With both clubs boasting an enormous pool of young talent, these are the players who could make names for themselves in the first team by Clasico 2020.

Vinicius Junior, 17, has the potential to be Madrid's next superstar.

Ronaldo 8/10, tallies two goals as rotated Madrid XI thrash Sevilla

Real Madrid thrashed Sevilla 5-0, thanks to a spectacular first-half showing at the Santiago Bernabeu.

Nacho opened the scoring in the third minute before Cristiano Ronaldo celebrated winning a fifth Ballon d'Or with a neatly taken goal. A clear handball by Jesus Navas granted the Portugal international the chance to double his tally from the penalty spot after 31 minutes. Toni Kroos and Achraf Hakimi both scored their first goals of the season to complete a five-star first half.

From there,...
