One of the transfer coups of the summer has been pulled off by English Championship club Wolverhampton Wanderers. Ruben Neves, 20, is a jewel from the Portuguese production line of talent who holds the distinction of being the youngest Champions League captain of all time -- when skippering FC Porto at 18 years and 221 days in an October 2015 defeat of Maccabi Tel Aviv.

Wolves sign Porto midfielder Ruben Neves for club record fee

Ruben Neves was a mainstay in Porto's Champions League group stage campaign, starting five of the Portuguese club's six matches.

Wolverhampton Wanderers have broken their transfer record to sign midfielder Ruben Neves from Porto, also confirming a loan deal for defender Willy Boly from the same club.

Neves has signed a five-year deal, and although Wolves did not confirm the size of the fee they said it was a club record, with reports putting it at around £15 million.

The midfielder, who links up again with former manager Nuno Espirito Santo, has been joined at Molineux by Boly, who has signed a season-long loan deal.

Ruben Neves became the youngest ever captain in Porto's Champions League history earlier this season.

Ruben Neves thinks it would be "fantastic" to become a Porto icon, despite speculation linking him with a Premier League move to Chelsea or Liverpool.
