Gyasi Zardes hopes new location, attitude lead to successful comeback

CARSON, Calif. -- "I'm not playing right-back."

Thus spoke Gyasi Zardes.

Understand that Zardes isn't just a glass half-full kind of guy. His theme song could be "Always Look On The Bright Side Of Life." He's a bubbly character, always looking to find the good in things. He's also a steadfast team guy, willing to do just about anything for the greater good.

But it would appear that Zardes hit his limit in 2017. He started off the year having knee surgery, which forced him to miss the LA Galaxy's...

LA Galaxy get Ola Kamara from Crew in trade for Gyasi Zardes

The LA Galaxy have completed a trade to acquire Ola Kamara from Columbus Crew SC in exchange for forward Gyasi Zardes and $400,000 in targeted allocation money, the clubs announced on Saturday.

Columbus will receive another $100,000 in TAM if Kamara, 28, scores 12 goals or more with the Galaxy.

Crew SC had been in discussions with multiple clubs, including at least one abroad, over the services of the Norway striker, sources had told ESPN FC.

Kamara has scored 34 goals since his arrival in...

Dempsey, Morrow push for starting spots vs. Costa Rica; Brooks injured

Mark Donaldson and Herculez Gomez evaluate what to expect from three notable Americans as the Premier League season begins.

World Cup qualifying resumes in just over two weeks, so there are not many chances left to impress United States head coach Bruce Arena ahead of the critical clash against Costa Rica on Sept. 1.

Heating up

Clint Dempsey, FW, Seattle Sounders (MLS)

Why he's here: Dempsey's goal in Seattle's 1-0 win over Sporting Kansas City was his sixth in five games with the Sounders, giving him 50 goals with the team.

What this means: After being used as a super sub during the Gold Cup, Arena has to decide...

Gio dos Santos, Gyasi Zardes, Ashley Cole all fit to return for LA Galaxy

Dave Romney and Emmanuel Boateng led the second-half surge for LA Galaxy, as they came back to win at 10-man RSL.

Giovani dos Santos, Gyasi Zardes and Ashley Cole will all be available for the LA Galaxy this weekend after overcoming injuries.

Galaxy coach Curt Onalfo confirmed the news on Thursday, welcoming back three key players for Saturday night's game at the Vancouver Whitecaps.

Dos Santos injured his hamstring on March 12 against the Portland Timbers and missed the next week's game against Real Salt Lake as well as Mexico's World Cup qualifiers.

U.S. Hot List: Christian Pulisic in top form, Tim Howard returns in style

After being sidelined with a serious heart condition, Clint Dempsey returned to the field, and had an immediate impact.

The first part of Bruce Arena's selection process for a critical World Cup qualifier against Honduras on March 24 and another in Panama City four days later is nearly complete, with the U.S. coach to name his roster for both games Wednesday afternoon.

The second part, of course, requires Arena to settle on a lineup for the match against Los Catrachos in San Jose, California. With just one more weekend of club games left for him to assess the sharpness of his players, here's a look at how 14 candidates...
