Arsenal's Mesut Ozil, Sead Kolasinac welcomed to Azerbaijan by stadium cat

Ahead of their Europa League clash with Qarabag, the Arsenal squad had their pregame training session interrupted by a very special visit from one of the Baku Olympic Stadium's most distinguished denizens.

Things quickly ground to a halt when the stadium cat came strolling by to keep an eye on the players as they limbered up.

Sead Kolasinac spotted the feline interloper, and obviously Mesut Ozil wandered over to offer his assistance.

Being a gruff defender, Sokratis Papastathopoulos was less convivial,...

Arsenal defender Sead Kolasinac ruled out at least two months with knee injury

Arsenal left-back Sead Kolasinac has been ruled out for up to 10 weeks with a knee injury, but the club is hoping Aaron Ramsey will be back in training as soon as next week.

Kolasinac went off injured during Arsenal's 1-1 draw with Chelsea in Dublin on Wednesday, which the Gunners ultimately won on penalties, and the club said on Friday he will miss the opening two months of the season.

Arsenal said the defender "sustained an injury to his left knee. Will be out for 8-10 weeks."

The prognosis on...

As Arsenal prepare for overhaul, which players will stay or go?

Arsenal's squad could face a big -- and according to some, much needed -- overhaul this summer with the arrival of a new manager. Whoever takes up Arsene Wenger's position will have some big decisions to make on which players to keep and which to sell as he tries to the Gunners back into title contenders.

Those decisions will, in part, be based on what type of system the new manager has in mind and which new signings he brings in during the transfer window. But here's a prediction of which Arsenal...

Arsenal punished for poor performance but avoid catastrophe vs. Ostersunds

LONDON -- Three quick thoughts from the Emirates after Arsenal reach the round of 16 of the Europa League despite a 2-1 home loss to Ostersunds, going through 4-2 on aggregate.

1. Arsenal avoid a monumental fiasco

What was supposed to be a formality turned into a near-fiasco for Arsenal.

Minnows Ostersunds threatened to make this one of the most embarrassing evenings in Arsenal history as they struck twice in two first-half minutes before Sead Kolasinac steadied the ship with a thumping...

Europa League position gives Wenger opportunity to test youth

Arsenal take on Östersunds FK at the Emirates on Thursday from a strong position. They won the first Europa League leg in Sweden 3-0 and it means that Arsene Wenger can rotate his squad with Sunday's Carabao Cup final in mind.

While still taking the game seriously to avoid what he calls a "bad surprise," he will want to keep his key players fresh. That opens the door for some others to play, and perhaps show their manager they can push for the first team.

Sead Kolasinac stands out at Arsenal in Carabao Cup victory over West Ham

Sometimes cup football is an incredible, exciting, exhilarating, rambunctious, passionate, end-to-end maelstrom of mayhem. Sometimes it is not. Arsenal's 1-0 win over West Ham was very much the latter, though it should be pointed out that Arsene Wenger's second string did what the "first team" couldn't just last week: namely, score against David Moyes' side.

The goal came late in the first half, a typically scrappy Danny Welbeck effort, and though they never looked like extending that lead, the...
