Wojciech Szczesny: Napoli are Juventus' biggest challengers - but our defence can cope

Juventus goalkeeper Wojciech Szczesny has told ESPN FC he sees Saturday's opponents Napoli as his side's main challengers for the Serie A title this season.

The Bianconeri claimed a seventh consecutive Scudetto last season at the expense of Napoli, despite the runners-up amassing 91 points -- a record for a side who failed to win the title.

The addition of Cristiano Ronaldo means Juventus are once again favourites to finish above the rest, but Szczesny thinks Napoli will put up a strong fight.

Gianluigi Buffon's No. 1 at Juventus 'is a heavy shirt to wear' - Wojciech Szczesny

ATLANTA -- Wojciech Szczesny says that he's aware of the responsibility bestowed upon him by inheriting Gianluigi Buffon's No. 1 shirt at Juventus.

The 28-year-old is slated to become the Bianconeri's starting goalkeeper this season following Buffon's departure for Paris Saint-Germain over the summer. The former Italy international spent 17 seasons in Turin before joining the Parisian club on a free transfer.

And after a season as Buffon's understudy, Szczesny will now be thrust into the spotlight....

Szczesny on Juventus' win: 'Where others crumble, we manage to get out on top'

LONDON -- Wojciech Szczesny hailed Juventus' experience and winning mentality after Wednesday's Champions League win against his old enemy Tottenham, and gloated: "Where others crumble, we get out on top."

Szczesny, the former Arsenal goalkeeper, was an unused substitute as Juve beat Spurs 2-1 at Wembley to progress to the quarterfinal with a 3-2 win on aggregate.

Spurs dominated the first leg after Juve had taken a 2-0 lead inside nine minutes and they again outplayed last season's finalists at...

Wojciech Szczesny trolls Tottenham fans after Juventus' UCL win

He may have left Arsenal two years ago, but it would appear Wojciech Szczesny is very much still a Gooner at heart.

The Polish goalkeeper was on fine form after watching his Juventus team oust Tottenham from the Champions League on Wednesday evening, taking to Instagram swiftly after the match to rub it in.

"Great win and celebrations versus one of the best teams in North London. FORZA JUVE! North London is red," Szczesny teased while sharing a photo of the dressing room revelry.

This was after...

Wojciech Szczesny hopes Gianluigi Buffon will play on for another season

Wojciech Szczesny says he hopes Gianluigi Buffon will play on for a further season, even if it would delay his promotion to becoming Juventus number one.

The former Arsenal and Roma goalkeeper has played 12 games in Serie A this season, compared to Buffon's 11, but coach Massimiliano Allegri recently confirmed that the 40-year-old Italian, who has just returned from an almost two-month injury break, is still his No. 1 choice.

Buffon is currently pondering his options for the future and appears to...

Wojciech Szczesny shows his worth, Paulo Dybala injured in Cagliari win

Juventus were not at their best but still managed to defeat Cagliari 1-0 on Saturday evening, albeit controversially.

Juventus started the match well but Cagliari refused to lie down and roll over, playing an excellent match that perhaps should have ensured they walk away with something. Utilising their pace and creating several key chances, Juve were left rattled and forced to count on Wojciech Szczesny.

The Old Lady did eventually get the goal in what was a physical second half but it came...
