Roma old boys Benatia, Pjanic and Szczesny star for Juventus in narrow win

It took Roma's former players to secure Juventus a 1-0 victory Saturday, taking them to within a point of Napoli at the top of the Serie A table.

On Friday morning, Turin based newspaper Tuttosport ran a front-page headline that read "From losing Romans to winning Juventini" accompanied by a picture of Medhi Benatia, Miralem Pjanic and Wojciech Szczesny to stoke the ire of Roma and their coach. As it transpired, Juventus won the match thanks to the performance of those very three...

Five African stars primed to crack the FC 100 in 2018

Five African players have been included in the ESPN FC 2017, but which of the continent's star men could be primed to feature in next year's version of the list?

In this feature, KweséESPN presents five of the continent's emerging stars who we're tipping to crack the 100 in 12 months' time.

Hakim Ziyech: Is there any African player in the world today who can run a match as easily - and with as much sophistication - as Ziyech?

He stepped up comfortably to life at Ajax after being signed from...

Who were Africa's star performers around the world this weekend?

We review the weekend's footballing action across the world, and pick out our quintet of key African performers.

Victor Moses returned to the starting XI for Chelsea as they hosted Newcastle United this weekend, reminding Blues fans exactly what they'd been missing with an outstanding performance down the right flank.

The scores were tied at 1-1 when Moses made the first of two decisive contributions, playing in Alvaro Morata for the Spanish forward to give the hosts the lead in the 33rd minute.

Medhi Benatia excels at the back for Juventus, Juan Cuadrado stumbles

Gab Marcotti addresses Juventus' Serie A form and the mounting pressure on Max Allegri after their loss at Sampdoria.

Drawing 0-0 at home to Barcelona on Wednesday, Juventus have yet to qualify to the next round of the Champions League and have left it all to do in Greece, where they face Olympiakos next.

In a tactical match void of any real entertainment, both sides chose to play it safe and provided little by way of decisive attacking threats. With Barcelona leaving Lionel Messi out for the first 55 minutes, Juventus were expected to show the courage to try and win the game to secure qualification, but they could...

Top Five African performers from weekend's World Cup qualifiers

Who were the continent's star performers during the weekend's qualifiers?

John Ogu has endured something of a frustrating recent revival with the national side. Discarded by previous managers, he's been recalled to the fold by Gernot Rohr, but has spend the recent international breaks watching on from the substitutes bench.

While Rohr opted not to turn to Ogu when Nigeria arguably needed him most - in the draw against Cameroon - the Israel-based midfielder was handed a starting berth against Algeria.

Gabon's Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang teased over orange juice claim

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang couldn't muster a winner against Burkina Faso.
Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Gabon were beaten by Morocco.

Morocco defender Medhi Benatia teased Gabon striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang over his claim that his country's World Cup qualifying bid had been sabotaged by dodgy orange juice.

In a tweet posted hours before the teams met in a crucial African zone Group C qualifier in Morocco on Saturday, Aubameyang wrote: "Half of the team and staff with upset stomachs. Incredible on matchday...Oh no, it's a good one! What orange juice this morning!"

Gabon lost 3-0, ending their hopes of reaching the finals...
