PSG's Neymar becomes highest-scoring Brazilian in Champions League history

Neymar set a Champions League record for the most goals by a Brazilian player with a first-half strike in Paris Saint-Germain's 2-1 victory over Liverpool at the Parc des Princes on Wednesday.

PSG star Neymar slotted home the rebound after a quick counter-attack had forced a fine save from Reds keeper and fellow Brazil international Alisson in the 37th minute.

The strike, the former Barcelona's 31st in the competition, saw him pass Kaka -- who divided his goals between AC Milan and Real Madrid -- on the all-time list.

The goal was Neymar's 10th in the Champions League for PSG, who he joined last summer, after scoring 21 for Barca between 2013 and 2017.

The rest of the top five consists of former Barcelona forward Rivaldo (27), ex-Porto and Galatasaray striker Mario Jardel (25), and Bayern Munich and Lyon great Giovane Elber (25).
