Former Egypt star Mido linked to U19 coaching role at Paris Saint-Germain

Mido has said that he is in talks to take over as coach of Paris Saint-Germain's under-19 side.

The former Egypt international, who retired in 2013, knows PSG chairman and CEO Nasser Al-Khelaifi from his work as a beIN Sports pundit.

"There are negotiations going on," Mido told King Fut. "It might happen very soon."

Mido, 34, spent time at Ajax, Marseille, Tottenham Hotspur and Middlesbrough and, since retiring, has coached Zamalek (twice), Ismaily and Wadi Degla in his home country.

He has also occupied the post of youth academy director of football with Zamalek and worked as technical advisor with Lierse in Belgium.

Francois Rodrigues is PSG's current reserve coach, with Herve Guegan in charge of the under-19 side, but it is Rodrigues who called the shots in the UEFA Youth League.

PSG recently exited the Youth League at the hands of Barcelona's youngsters, and Rodrigues was close to joining Ligue 2 side Le Havre last summer.

Mido's claim could be news to Thiago Motta, who is expected to take on a staff role if he finishes his playing career in the summer. The under-19 position was thought to be an ideal starting point for the Italian veteran.

Mido enjoyed three spells with Zamalek as a player and won the 2014 Egypt Cup and the Al Wehda International Championship in his various non-playing roles with them.

He also played for Roma, Gent, Celta Vigo, Wigan and Barnsley during his career.
