UEFA happy over transfers of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe to PSG - source

The nature of the transfers of Neymar and Kylian Mbappe to Paris Saint-Germain are no longer of interest to UEFA after European football's governing body was satisfied both players were acquired in the correct manner, a source close to club has told ESPN FC.

PSG remain the subject of a UEFA financial fair play (FFP) investigation into their spending in the last transfer window, but investigators are at least satisfied with the way that the Ligue 1 leaders activated Neymar's €222 million release clause to sign him from Barcelona and negotiated a loan with an €180m option to buy this summer for Mbappe with Monaco.

According to the source, PSG still have FFP concerns and must make up a deficit of around €75m and also still need to convince UEFA of the validity of their accounts -- namely sponsorship deals -- but the nature of Neymar and Mbappe's arrivals and the origins of the funds for those deals are no longer under suspicion.

Rumours that Mbappe has been ruled out for two months after his collision with Lyon goalkeeper Anthony Lopes on Sunday have also been rubbished by the club.

A source revealed that Mbappe underwent some tests after travelling back with the team after the 2-1 defeat at Groupama Stadium and although the 19-year-old will see a neurologist on Tuesday -- making an appearance against Guingamp in the Coupe de France unlikely -- the forward is not expected to miss too much action.

"Kylian felt fine in the dressing room after the Lyon game," PSG coach Unai Emery said at his prematch news conference on Tuesday. "He took a heavy blow. The doctor would rather analyse the problem with a neurologist and see if it is dangerous for Kylian to play. He wants to feature, though, he is fired up and feels fine."

Emery also revealed that Neymar was back in training on Monday but that he struggled and the final training session ahead of the Guingamp clash would decide the South American's participation.

"Neymar trained on Monday but did not feel very well at the end of the session," the Spaniard told journalists at Camp des Loges. "When he feels at 100 percent, he will be able to resume. We will see if Neymar can train again before the match but if he was unable to finish the most recent session, I do not think he will be ready [to return against Guingamp]."

Regarding the supporters who whistled Neymar for taking a late penalty instead of offering it to Edinson Cavani for the goal to make him all-time PSG top scorer in the 8-0 win over Dijon at Parc des Princes, Emery said he was certain that those fans will be behind Neymar on Wednesday -- if he plays.

"The PSG supporters love all of the players," Emery said. "They are intelligent. They are happy that Neymar is here and it is certain that the crowd will be behind the team and Neymar, if he plays, against Guingamp."

On the topic of Dani Alves' red card away at Lyon last Sunday and the likelihood of further action being taken against the Brazil international, especially after his unrepentant Instagram post, Emery admitted that the experienced right-back should have known better but that referee Clement Turpin could have handled the situation differently.

"I want players who play with their hearts but also their heads," Emery said. "If you play without one or the other, then it is not good.

"Dani is an intelligent and experienced player and he plays with a lot of heart. However, he needed some balance in this situation. When you know the player, you know that they have this sort of character.

"Dani has been that way ever since his first few matches. A different referee might have only shown him a yellow card, though -- I prefer it when referees can handle and keep control of difficult moments like that."

After Guingamp at home in the Coupe de France on Wednesday, Montpellier will visit Parc des Princes in Ligue 1 on Saturday.
