Mats Hummels on PSG: 'Money buys players that score a lot of goals'

Mats Hummels has warned Bayern Munich that "money buys players that score a lot of goals" ahead of their Champions League clash with Paris Saint-Germain on Wednesday.

PSG will spend a total of over €400 million on new attackers Neymar and Kylian Mbappe after securing the duo in mega deals this summer.

Bayern winger Arjen Robben has expressed doubts over PSG's strategy of spending big, saying that splashing out does not score you goals.

However, ahead of Bayern's Champions League meeting with PSG at the Parc des Princes, Hummels was more cautious over the French side's attacking capabilities than his teammate.

"To be honest, for me as a player, it's relatively unimportant how a team is formed," he told a news conference. "It's 11 vs. 11 on the pitch and a sporting competition.

"Of course in the Bundesliga, it's the other way round and we spend a lot more than our rivals, so we have to come to terms with it when others clubs make such transfers.

"From a sporting perspective, it's extremely attractive. Arjen is totally correct when he says money doesn't score any goals, but money buys players that score a lot of goals."
