Hatem Ben Arfa not included in PSG's UCL squad, training with the reserves

PARIS -- Hatem Ben Arfa has been left out of Paris Saint-Germain's initial Champions League squad and reportedly been sent to train with the reserves after resisting the club's attempts to move him on this summer.

Ben Arfa, 30, rejected moves to Turkey during the transfer window, most notably to Fenerbahce, while Nice president Jean-Pierre Rivere claimed he turned down a return to the Allianz Riviera.

Having already been told he had no future at the club, Ben Arfa did not feature at all in preseason, has yet to make one of Unai Emery's Ligue 1 matchday squads this term and has now, according to L'Equipe, been banished to the reserves.

A return to the senior setup looks unlikely and a source has told ESPN FC that PSG sporting director Antero Henrique is continuing to persuade the France international to leave, particularly with the Turkish transfer window still open.

Ben Arfa is into the final 12 months of his contract but is so far unwilling to leave, announcing he was staying in the French capital through his Instagram account in the final hours of the summer transfer window.

Otherwise, PSG's Champions League squad is as expected with summer signings Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, Dani Alves and Yuri Berchiche all included.

Angel Di Maria, Julian Draxler and Lucas Moura also made the cut despite being linked with moves away from the Parc des Princes this summer, while Alec Georgen, Lorenzo Callegari and Remy Descamps are the youth academy graduates who can feature in the UEFA Youth League as well as the Champions League.

PSG will kick off their European campaign away at Celtic in Glasgow next week.

PSG squad:

Goalkeepers: Alphonse Areola, Kevin Trapp, Remy Descamps

Midfielders: Marco Verratti, Adrien Rabiot, Thiago Motta, Angel Di Maria, Julian Draxler, Javier Pastore, Lucas Moura, Giovani Lo Celso, Christopher Nkunku, Lorenzo Callegari
