Edinson Cavani 'very much inspired' by playing with Zlatan Ibrahimovic at PSG

Edinson Cavani has said he was "very much inspired" by working alongside Zlatan Ibrahimovic at Paris Saint-Germain.

Uruguay international Cavani played second fiddle to Ibrahimovic, now at Manchester United, between 2013 and last summer.

But he has been the main striker at the Parc des Princes this season and was named Ligue 1 Player of the Year after scoring 35 goals in 36 appearances.

"I think he [Ibrahimovic] scored more than 150 goals during his time here," Cavani told Stade2. "I know that he is a great player. I was able to learn a lot of things from playing alongside him.

"I was able to see his attitude on the pitch. He is a warrior. Sincerely, I was very much inspired by his attitude -- his hatred of losing and his desire to always win."

Cavani, 29, is living up to the reputation he forged at Napoli, which convinced PSG to pay around €64 million for him.

But he said that although he enjoyed individual recognition he was more motivated by collective success.

"There are a lot of objectives for a club like this one," he added. "For me, the most important aim is to win trophies.

"Anything outside of that is an individual award. These can create beautiful memories too, of course, but the most special thing is to win titles for the club."

Cavani has the chance to win his 12th piece of silverware since joining PSG when they play Angers in the Coupe de France final on Saturday.
