Sporting director Olivier Letang confirms Paris Saint-Germain exit

Olivier Letang has issued a statement to confirm he has left his role as Paris Saint-Germain's sporting director in order to take on a new position with Sports Invest UK.

Letang's long-term future with the Ligue 1 champions had been under intense scrutiny for some time and it was reported ahead of the 3-2 win away at Metz that he had handed in his resignation.

He thanked predecessor Leonardo and chairman and CEO Nasser Al-Khelaifi, via Le Parisien, while confirming his departure.

"I would like to thank Leonardo and Nasser for the confidence they showed in me since I arrived at PSG," Letang wrote. "I am convinced the club is on the right track to achieve its objectives.

"I am grateful to the club's various teams, as well, with whom I have worked and done my best alongside during my five years there."

Letang went on to detail his reasons for linking up with renowned football agents and representatives Kia Joorabchian and Giuliano Bertolucci to form Sports Invest UK.

"I am delighted to join this ambitious team," Letang added. "Kia and Giuliano have already successfully demonstrated that they are men of ambition as well as respected people.

"I have learned from my time with Reims and PSG that the true engine of great ambition is people and the way they build a project with dedication, clarity and respect. This is what has attracted me to this new challenge with Sports Invest UK."

The arrival of director of football Patrick Kluivert, who is reported to be considering his own future with the club, had overshadowed Letang's role at PSG.
