PSG captain Thiago Silva's talking complicates things - Layvin Kurzawa

Paris Saint-Germain left-back Layvin Kurzawa has revealed he enjoys greater freedom when playing alongside central defender Presnel Kimpembe than captain Thiago Silva.

The France international has established himself ahead of Maxwell as coach Unai Emery's preferred option on the left side of the back four this season, which places him next to Brazilian skipper Silva in the Spanish tactician's preferred starting XI.

Speaking with Canal+ via L'Equipe, Kurzawa admitted the South American stopper is not afraid to voice his opinion and often uses his considerably greater experience to set the former AS Monaco man straight.

For Kurzawa, it is sometimes easier and less stressful to play next to youth academy graduate Kimpembe.

"Our relationship is very good," he said when questioned on Silva. "On the pitch, though, it is a bit complicated because he talks to me a lot.

"Today, I am 24 years old, I am no longer 18, so I know what I have to do -- I feel more free when Presnel plays."

Kurzawa has been playing through the pain barrier recently and admitted in the same interview that a niggling groin injury still affects him.

However, while it is "not ideal" he emphasised that he can "still play" and that is why he has not undergone surgery yet to rectify the problem.

Emery took a big risk in leaving experienced left-back Maxwell in Paris, so that he could accommodate more attacking and creative options.

Luckily for Emery, Kurzawa emerged unscathed after 90 minutes at Stade Velodrome and was solid in PSG's 5-1 thrashing of their bitter rivals so Maxwell's wisdom was not missed.
