Marco Verratti: Leonardo started something big at Paris Saint-Germain

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Marco Verratti has thanked former sporting director Leonardo for bringing him to Parc des Princes.

Verratti joined the Ligue 1 champions in 2012 and has since established himself as a key figure.

Speaking to Canal +, he praised Leonardo's impact on the club and said he had "made a bit of history here."

"He started a big project. I believe that if, PSG are a great club after four or five years, it is also thanks to him," he added.

"He brought in some great players who have won things for the club. He is someone who knows football.

"I have an excellent relationship with him and I must thank him for me being here.

Leonardo is still waiting for his first opportunity in football since leaving PSG in 2013 and is reported to want to take a coaching role rather than again becoming a sporting director.
