Cavani's hard work and enthusiasm driving PSG to new heights - Trezeguet

Former Juventus and France international striker David Trezeguet has praised Paris Saint-Germain's in-form marksman Edinson Cavani after the Uruguayan scored in Tuesday's 4-0 Champions League rout of Barcelona.

Trezeguet was at the French champions' Camp des Loges training base for Italian television channel Mediaset to speak with El Matador, and the Rouen native took time out to answer a few questions for PSG's official website.

Trezeguet revealed he is a huge admirer of the former Napoli man and lauded Cavani's work ethic since joining PSG in 2013.

"This season, he is back playing in his favourite position," the former River Plate and Newell's Old Boys star said of the Uruguay international "He is showing a lot of drive and enthusiasm and works hard to make himself available to his teammates.

"He is also showing a lot of power -- he is an exceptional player!"

Trezeguet famously went on to play for AS Monaco between 1995-2000 after PSG failed to sign him to professional terms.

The 39-year-old, who most recently played for Pune City in the Indian Super League, is delighted to see Les Monegasques giving the capital club a real run for the money at the Ligue 1 summit this season.

"It is great for the French league!" Trezeguet said of the intense title race in Le Championnat. "PSG have been dominating Ligue 1 for a long time now. Having a side going toe to toe with them lifts the overall level of the league.

"I have many strong memories from Monaco. Since the beginning of the season, this team has been showing incredible quality. The team that is the stronger mentally, physically and technically will win the title."

Trezeguet was also at Parc des Princes to witness the 4-0 demolition of Barcelona on Tuesday and was blown away by the showing from Unai Emery's men.

"It was an exceptional match," said Trezeguet. "PSG got the win with a high-level performance. The team showed their quality and posed Barcelona a lot of problems. 4-0 is pretty amazing!

"Even though there is still a return leg to play, Paris are all but qualified for the quarterfinals. The Champions League is the most important competition. There are high-level teams with extremely good players. Paris are one of the sides who are aiming to win the trophy."
