Angel Di Maria has Paris Saint-Germain players' backing - Thiago Motta

Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Thiago Motta has said under-scrutiny winger Angel Di Maria "has everybody's confidence" at the club.

Di Maria has come in for criticism in recent weeks after a poor start to the season, which has seen him contribute one goal and four assists from 12 appearances across Ligue 1 and the Champions League.

Motta told beIN Sports France's Football Show that while he does not like to "single out individuals because the whole team can raise its game," the PSG squad knows what Di Maria "is capable of" and his teammates "always want to see Angel at his best."

"He has everybody's confidence, from the coach to the players," Motta added. "Angel is not isolated; he speaks with everyone and has integrated well with the rest of the dressing room. If the squad is well, Angel will once again rediscover his best level -- as we saw before.

"When we do not win, things are difficult. When we do not score, the problem is the whole team. We must do much better so that our attackers get the ball in better positions."

L'Equipe and Le Parisien both criticised Di Maria on Tuesday, with the former claiming "Angel has lost his wings" while the latter wrote PSG are "desperately searching for Di Maria."
