Paris Saint-Germain's Thomas Meunier hopes Thiago Silva injury not serious

New Paris Saint-Germain signing Thomas Meunier was pleased to get on the scoresheet in their win over Real Madrid but hopes that Thiago Silva will swiftly recover from injury.

Thiago Silva, 31, was forced to leave the field after 11 minutes of the International Champions Cup fixture against the European champions and he was replaced by Meunier, 24, who scored twice in the 3-1 win in Columbus.

PSG recently beat Inter Milan by the same scoreline, meaning Unai Emery's side have now chalked up three wins from three games in preseason.

While Meunier was happy to get his first goals for the French champions, the former Club Brugge right-back also had Silva on his mind after the game.

"I'm sad about the injury to Thiago," Meunier told reporters in Ohio. "I hope that it's nothing serious because he's our captain and a very important player.

"On a personal level I got into the match well -- I'm very happy to have been able to score two goals.

"We can still do better defensively. We managed things in the second half. We stayed as a unit -- they didn't create a lot of chances. We played a very serious match."
