Laurent Blanc likely to leave Paris Saint-Germain by end of week - agent

Paris Saint-Germain coach Laurent Blanc is likely to leave the Ligue 1 champions at the end of a "decisive" week, his agent has told French radio station Europe 1.

Former France captain Blanc -- who signed a two-year contract in February -- led PSG to successive domestic trebles but was unable to deliver success in the Champions League.

He is expected to be replaced by former Sevilla coach Unai Emery, who left the Spanish club last week after guiding them to a hat trick of victories in the Europa League.

Agent Jean Pierre Bernes said Blanc's three-year tenure would come to an end and explained: "We're in the process of discussing it with the PSG directors, and it's taking place in an excellent atmosphere on both sides.

"There's no clause. It's a fixed-term contract of two years that we signed on Feb. 10. There are simply certain rules to respect in order to terminate a fixed-term contract, and PSG are respecting them."

He said this week would be "decisive" in finding an agreement and, asked whether Blanc would leave at the end of it, replied: "I think so."

PSG saw last season's Champions League campaign end in a 3-2 aggregate defeat to Manchester City in the last eight.

That setback prompted president Nasser Al-Khelaifi to say that they had "failed" in the season.

Earlier this month, Al-Khelaifi had stopped short of confirming whether Blanc would retain his job as he promised a "new cycle" at the club in the summer.

"Honestly I think we failed this season in spite of the new trophies on a national level," Al-Khelaifi told Le Parisien.

"We didn't reach our European goal, so it's a bad season. I've been here five years, and it's the first time that we have this feeling of failure.

"I'm very disappointed. We weren't ready mentally and we're all responsible -- myself first of all."
