Zlatan Ibrahimovic believes PSG will win Champions League, backs Blanc

Zlatan Ibrahimovic feels that Laurent Blanc has done a good job as manager of Paris Saint-Germain and that it is only a matter of time before they win the Champions League.

Ibrahimovic, 34, is leaving the French champions at the end of the month, with ESPN FC sources suggesting that Manchester United will be his next destination.

PSG's record goal scorer helped Blanc complete a clean sweep of domestic trophies in France for a second year running last season. But Blanc's position is under threat after his team were beaten by Manchester City in the Champions League quarterfinals.

"I think that Laurent Blanc has done fantastic work with PSG," Ibrahimovic told Le Monde. "He's allowed the team to play very well. I like his philosophy and way of working a lot. His track record is very positive."

Ibrahimovic said PSG still had work to do after developing rapidly since Qatari investors bought the club in 2011. But PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi recently described how disappointed he was by their Champions League exit to City.

The Sweden international thinks PSG's owners will have to show a little more patience before they finally realise their dream of seeing PSG win Europe's top club competition for the first time.

"I don't think it's a question of what's lacking or not," he added. "The time will come when PSG will win the Champions League. It's not like it's enough to click your fingers saying 'this year I'm going to win it.'

"The project only started four years ago and in four years PSG have done some huge, magical things. And in such a short space of time, that's not normal. Usually it takes more time to get results."
