Paris Saint-Germain give contract to Timothy Weah, son of George

Paris Saint-Germain have given an apprentice contract to the 16-year-old son of their former striker George Weah.

Timothy Weah's displays for the capital club's under-17 side, which included scoring five goals against Chinese outfit Shanghai Greenland in February's Al Kass International Cup, have earned him the chance to further his career at the Parc des Princes.

His famous father played for PSG from 1992 to 1995, the year in which he won the Ballon d'Or award as world player of the year, and is thrilled to see his son given the chance to follow in his footsteps.

"I am very proud and very happy to see my son develop at the great club that is Paris Saint-Germain," George Weah told the club's website.

"I also played here, of course, and this gives me great pride."

Timothy Weah is an under-17 international for the United States, the country of his birth.
