PSG boss Laurent Blanc: 'The win is the main thing'

Laurent Blanc insists Paris St. Germain are a long way from being perfect despite watching them register a third straight Ligue 1 victory on Friday night.

The capital club followed up their wins against Lille and Gazelec Ajaccio with a 1-0 triumph at Montpellier thanks to Blaise Matuidi's goal on the hour mark.

Early table-toppers PSG have also kept three clean sheets, but Blanc is still not totally convinced by his players' efforts.

"We are happy because we won," the head coach told psg.fr. "Not everything was perfect, starting with our technical problems, which were far more present than in the first two games.

"There are some explanations, like the state of the pitch and the high temperature.

"We struggled, as did Montpellier. It was a very tough game, but the win is the main thing, we scored and we didn't concede.

"There are still things to work on ... we know that. We need to improve."

Montpellier might well have opened the scoring at the Stade de la Mosson, with the likes of Paul Lasne and Djamel Bakar going dangerously close to beating PSG goalkeeper Kevin Trapp in the first half.

The German stopper said: "It really wasn't easy tonight.

"We made a few mistakes and Montpellier played very well and had a few chances of their own. It wasn't an easy match at all because I always have to stay focused."

Montpellier might well look at their moneyed opponents from the north and wonder what they could possibly be worried about, given La Paillade have now lost three consecutive games without scoring a goal.

Head coach Rolland Courbis told his club's official website: "It's not easy for the club, the staff and the players, to be propping up the table.

"We could have taken a point tonight against a PSG side who will undoubtedly get stronger over the coming weeks.

"We showed a lot of potential, but weren't good enough when it came to converting."
