PSG may not be allowed open-top bus parade due to fears of violence

Paris Saint-Germain are unlikely to be allowed to parade through the streets of the French capital even if they clinch an historic treble this weekend.

Laurent Blanc's men will become the first side to win all three of France's domestic trophies in a single season if they can beat Ligue 2 side Auxerre in Saturday's Coupe de France final, having already claimed the Ligue 1 title and the Coupe de la Ligue.

However, plans to celebrate their campaign with an open-top bus parade have been met with resistance from local authorities, who fear a repeat of the violent scenes that marred PSG's celebrations in 2013.

As the squad celebrated a first Ligue 1 title since 1994 in the shadow of the Eiffel Tower at Paris' Trocadero, riots broke out with hooligans smashing up streets and shops around the area, leaving 32 people injured, while 40 arrests were made.

RMC reports PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi is personally involved in talks with the Paris authorities in the hope of convincing them to allow the club to celebrate their success in the same manner as Chelsea did on Monday.

Should PSG not be allowed to follow through with their plans, RMC claims an event could be held at the Stade de France in Paris' northern suburbs.

Le Parisien recently claimed a police source revealed that another factor behind the rejection of the club's plans was the heightened security status following January's Charlie Hebdo terrorist attacks, which meant sufficient law and order forces were not available to police such an event.

The paper also reported that Paris mayor Anne Hidalgo is in favour of allowing the club to carry out their parade.
