PSG chief Nasser Al-Khelaifi wants UEFA discussions regarding FFP

Paris Saint-Germain president Nasser Al-Khelaifi has revealed he will ask UEFA to reconsider their financial fair play regulations in light of the Premier League's latest TV deal.

Ligue 1 clubs recently secured a record €748.5 million rights agreement with broadcasters for the period 2016-2020. That, however, is dwarfed by the €2.3 billion teams in the English top flight will share each season between 2016 and 2019.

The money will give Premier League sides more financial muscle with which to attract the world's best players and could, according to Al-Khelaifi, leave the rest of Europe unable to compete given the constraints placed upon them by UEFA's FFP rules.

"We're going to speak to UEFA to try and find a solution. With England, which is going to receive enormous TV rights money, financial fair play is not only the problem of French football, but also all the other European countries," Al Khelaifi told reporters after PSG wrapped up their title-winning season with a 3-2 victory over Reims on Saturday.

Along with Manchester City, PSG were the hardest hit when UEFA handed down its first raft of FFP punishments last summer.

The French champions were fined, saw their Champions League squad reduced and were told they could dip into the vast resources of their Qatari owners to buy one player at €60 million, but would then have to trim their squad prior to adding to it.

"How do you want to buy two or three players with €60 million?" asked Al Khelaifi, who added that PSG would think hard about how to reinforce their squad this summer with UEFA still keeping a watchful eye on their finances.

"In Paris, we already have great players, of which I'm very proud. But perhaps we will need a little stroke of luck."
