Marco Verratti is 'unsellable' says agent, as PSG quash transfer talk

Marco Verratti's agent has claimed Paris Saint-Germain see the Italy international midfielder as "unsellable" as he is so valuable to the French champions.

Since arriving at the Parc des Princes from Pescara a relative unknown in 2012, Verratti has made a name for himself, helping PSG to back-to-back Ligue 1 titles and earning himself international recognition.

In acknowledgement of his weightier status within Laurent Blanc's squad, the 22-year-old signed a more lucrative contract extension through to 2019 earlier this season, his second improved deal in less than a year.

And his representative, Donato Di Campli, said they will fend off all-comers for their much-sought-after midfielder, telling TuttoMercatoWeb: "For PSG, he's unsellable. He's not on the market."

Barcelona boss Luis Enrique caused a wave of speculation his club could make a move for Verratti when he admitted he was a fan of the PSG player just 24 hours before Tuesday's Champions League quarterfinal second leg between the pair.

"It would please any player," Verratti told Sky Sports after being asked for his reaction to the Barca coach's comments. "But PSG believed in me when no-one expected it and I would like to repay that faith."

Verratti has spoken of his close ties to ex-PSG boss Carlo Ancelotti, and Di Campli acknowledged the Real Madrid coach and his former protege remain close, saying: "Verratti has an extraordinary relationship with Carlo Ancelotti. Who knows, perhaps one day they'll be reunited?"
