Zlatan Ibrahimovic ban should be reduced, Olympic Committee says

France's Olympic Committee (CNOSF) has recommended Zlatan Ibrahimovic's four-match ban be reduced by a game after an appeal by Paris Saint-Germain.

Ibrahimovic, 33, was given a three-game ban and saw a one-game suspended sanction activated following his tirade against match officials after PSG's league defeat at Bordeaux on March 15.

After a hearing on Thursday morning, the CNOSF recommended to the French Football League (LFP) that the Sweden captain's ban be reduced by one game.

The LFP must now decide whether or not to accept the CNOSF's recommendations.

Marseille had made an identical appeal to PSG with regard to the two-game ban inflicted on Dimitri Payet following his own angry outburst at officials after OM's draw with Lyon, also on March 15.

The CNOSF recommended the France international midfielder's suspension be cut by a game.

After the CNOSF hearing, PSG deputy sporting director Olivier Letang told media he was "rather optimistic" about having Ibrahimovic's ban re-examined by the LFP's top body, the Administrative Council.

Ibrahimovic, who was suspended for PSG's Champions League quarterfinal first-leg defeat to Barcelona following his red card at Chelsea in the previous round, was due to miss league games against Nice, Lille, Metz and Nantes.
